This was a great opportunity for our swimming club to get more visualization out in the community as we continue to build our community impact in our newest expansion site Wahiawa. In order to perform at an optimal level, athletes of all ages and abilities focus on achieving the highest quality of training, technique, nutrition, recovery, and SLEEP! When any of these areas isn't being maintained, performance outcomes will suffer. A study from the University of San Diego showed that swimmers who got more sleep demonstrated faster reaction times on their dives, improved turn times, sprint times improved, better recovery, better muscle memory, and they overall swam faster! Due to our central home pool being closed for the week, our team is thinking outside the box, we enjoyed a practice at the big pool last night doing some open water swimming. Swimmers did some rigorous dryland, had a mini tutorial on ocean / water safety and then got some salt water laps in. Will be looking to add a few more of these "Big Pool" swims in this short course season, to add variety and a bit of fun to workouts. Go Aloha!
